Jennifer appeared on welsh television on march 1st 2007 to speak of her ordeal on diazepam. For 31 years Jenny took diazepam sometimes referred to as valium. She suffered very unpleasant prolonged withdrawal effects when she came off the tablets cold turkey. So desperate and without support services available to her she made a serious suicide attempt which resulted in her being in an intensive care unit for five days. It has taken years for her health to start to return to normal. So angry Jennifer is at the lack of awareness of the problem with sedative addiction and the lack of services available for benzodiazepine prescribed addicts she has taken to trying to raise the problem with local politicians and the local media. According to this news clip there are an estimated 90,000 people addicted to benzodiazepines. It is unknown whether they included the Z drugs and street users in their statistics which could potentially push these figures even higher. Watch the clip above.
